Taking place in 1891, this novel tells the story of an aging '49er who is given the job of hunting the last Grizzly of Hetch Hetchy. Includes vivid-word images of how Hetch Hetchy used to be. John Muir makes a cameo appearance near the end of the book. A series of flashbacks brings back the legendary Gold Rush days. Carrozzi dedicates the book "In memory of the lost Hetch Hetchy Valley.... May it soon rise from its watery grave."
