Restore Hetch Hetchy
- the second Yosemite!
"Hetch Hetchy Valley is a grand landscape garden,
one of Nature's rarest
and most precious mountain temples."
- John Muir
Painted in memory of the valley in which John Muir fought to save (and ultimately lose), and in hopes that it will enlighten us all in the view of what the valley could once again be. Much of what you see here is under water now, as it is dammed up; it is the main water source for San Francisco.
But there is an organization actively working to restore the Hetch Hetchy Valley:
"Hetch Hetchy: Requiem for a Valley" by Brooks Anderson.
Reprinted by permission of Brooks Anderson and Principia College, Elsah,
Illinois.
